Onboarding on TRA and DigiTax Tanzania

This guide takes you through the steps to go LIVE on DigiTax Tanzania, including registering your Virtual Fiscal Device (VFD) with TRA.

Welcome to DigiTax Tanzania. Below are the steps you'll need to follow to begin issuing fiscal receipts on TRA through

DigiTax Onboarding

You need to:

  1. Create an account (sign up)

  2. Sign in

  3. Set up a Profile and select Tanzania (TZ) as your country

  4. Set up a Business

These first steps are the same for every DigiTax country.

Submit your VFD Application Documents

Once your Business is set up, DigiTax will email you two documents:

  • The TRA template letter

  • A KYC (Know Your Customer) form

Complete both documents, then send the filled-in documents to the DigiTax email [email protected] with:

  1. The completed TRA template letter

  2. The completed KYC form

  3. A copy of your national ID

Make sure all three documents are attached in a single reply. Missing documents will delay your application.

Application Review and VFD Registration

No action is needed from you at this stage. DigiTax registers your VFD with TRA. DigiTax reviews your application and uploads it in TRA's EFDMS (Electronic Fiscal Device Management System)

Once this is done, TRA will send a VFD request to your taxpayer portal.

Accept the VFD Request on the TRA Taxpayer Portal

Log in to your TRA taxpayer portal and navigate to:

ETI (E-Tax Invoice) > VFD Request > Accept

Below is a video on how to navigate to the portal.

Accepting the VFD request is a prerequisite for going LIVE with DigiTax Tanzania.

DigiTax Setup of your VFD Credentials

After TRA approves the request, DigiTax will get the details of your VFD credentials and will set them up on our end so that you can start doing LIVE transactions.
